Due to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the inclusion of special needs students in general education classrooms is becoming more prominent in school districts across the country. IDEA focuses on protecting the rights of students with disabilities. These students, just like all students, have a right to the best possible education that accommodates their needs. As a result of this legislation, teachers may be challenged to find resources that help students with different ability levels succeed. This issue of Technology Turning Points offers information on assistive technology and other useful strategies for integrating students with special needs into your classroom. In this way, you can acheive your goal of providing quality education for all students.
