Glencoe Offers Online Training for Technology Educators

The funding requirements of the Perkins Act have created new standards, increasing the demands on computer technology education teachers. Teachers who may not have had formal training in the core subjects of reading, math, and science are now expected to integrate these subjects into their computer education classrooms. These teachers need practical, on-demand training that can help them achieve the new standards and fulfill their professional development requirements.

Glencoe's Online Professional Development for Academic Integration program is specifically designed to help career and technical education teachers and their school districts meet those challenges. Online courses provide step-by-step instruction, strategies, lessons, and assessments that demonstrate how the core curriculum can be integrated into CTE courses. The series includes short and engaging videos that model real-world classroom situations and feature interviews with real teachers. These videos provide innovative strategies for how to engage students and create relevant learning experiences for the middle and high school classroom.

Computer education teachers often work with students who have a wide range of skills and needs. Glencoe's Online Professional Development for Academic Integration program includes resources to develop differentiated instruction. Strategies to reach learners of all levels are introduced, modeled, practiced, and analyzed. Specific strategies for teaching English language learners are also included.

The online lessons can be used to fulfill professional development hours and are done either at the teachers' own pace or on a schedule established by their school district.
