Using the ExamView Assessment Suite

ExamView test banks are available for your Glencoe/McGraw-Hill textbooks. ExamView is a powerful tool to add to your teaching “toolbelt.” Chapter and lesson exams can be built, literally in minutes, to assess your students’ knowledge of the chapter or lesson completed.

Exams can be custom-built from the test banks contained on the program’s ExamView CD-ROM or on the program’s Online Learning Center.

Question types include:
  • True/false
  • Multiple choice
  • Short answer
  • Matching
With ExamView, you can:
  • Determine the type and number of questions
  • “Scramble” the questions for each test-taker
  • Set a timer for electronic tests
Exams can be:
  • Paper-based
  • Intranet-based
  • Internet-based
ExamView tests are scored automatically in the electronic format. Results are e-mailed to your inbox for instant review. The electronic exams provide:
  • Immediate feedback to the student on final grades and missed answers, with a reference to the textbook material.
  • Immediate grading that can be transferred to your online grading program.
  • Immediate analysis of class performance and comprehension of the material.
  • Immediate ability to reteach concepts and ideas missed in the test. For example, if all students incorrectly answered a question regarding the “word-wrap” feature in Microsoft Word, you can reteach this concept at the next class.
  • Immediate retake of retaught concepts to confirm class comprehension.
  • Ability to make up exams due to absences without losing class time. Internet-based exams can be accessed anywhere. They can be password and access-time protected.
  • Ability to create a permanent record of student progress for use with special education reports, IEPs, and Section 504 requirements.
My students love the twenty-first-century feel of ExamView testing. I alternate scrambling the exams. Occasionally I give students the same version of the exam so they can collaborate. Students take the exams at all hours, including weekends! They appreciate the immediate feedback and the ability to retake exams as I deem appropriate.
